statcounter.com

Several days ago I started using tracking service from StatCounter. I’d chosen to start with free service. And it’s been more than a week they track my blog’s stats. I’m just wondering is it better than ExtremeTracking that I’m using until now. So I would like to gather as much as information for a week long. I’ve been watching these stats from Feb 16th (Saturday) until Feb 22nd (Friday). So here it goes the result, and it’s amazing.

blogtemplate20 stats

Illustration above describes this blog’s traffic stats. The green bar denoted as amount of page loads. The blue bar denoted as unique visitors came to this blog. And the orange bar denoted as returning visitors. Generally we can see the bar chart in daily, weekly, and monthly report. I think we can’t see such kind of stats at ExtremeTracking.

stats from extremetracking

Illustration above generated from ExtremeTracking and it describes only unique visitors came to this blog. Because I can’t find more detailed traffic about UV, page loads, and returning visitors, then I use UV parameter to be compared with stats from StatCounter.

It is clearly shown that daily unique visits generated from both websites are different. Let see StatCounter’s graph at each blue bar (it is UV), then compare it with stats generated from ExtremeTracking. There is nothing the same. Sometimes ExtremeTracking generated low traffic but StatCounter generated high, and vice versa.

traffic stats from statcounter

Generally ExtremeTracking can give you highly simple stats from what it tracked from your blog’s traffic. This way you can monitor your blog visitors easily. But if you want to know more then you should use StatCounter. But as a free member we’ll get limited stats log capacity.

extremetracking conclusion

What can we get from ExtremeTracking and StatCounter? Basically you should get stats like illustrations below.

stats from StatCounter

Just additions that you can download your blog’s stats in excel and CSV based database, if you are using StatCounter service even it is free.

So which one is the better for me to use? It is up to you. But since StatCounter allow you to track in invisible mode, so it is better to use both of them; StatCounter and ExtremeTracking. Monitoring statistics of our blog traffic can make us falling in love with our own blog. Don't forget to subscribe.

I've done similar experiments. I've found that GoStats is much better than statcounter. You can have an unlimited log with GoStats, plus you get many more features.

thanks alot for your reply.. but I think the most common usage of tracker can be accomodated via those two tracker. I'll concider about gostats later after trying and getting some experiences.
